The CureME research team is based at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, within the Department of Clinical Research. The CureME team collaborates closely with a lab team working within the Department of Life Sciences at Brunel University. The team is overseen by a Steering Committee that includes researchers, partner charities and representatives of people with ME.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

CureME is at the forefront of participatory epidemiological, clinical and laboratory research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME\/CFS) in the UK. Our research has focused on improving recognition, diagnosis and treatment of ME\/CFS, and led to the creation of the UK\u2019s first ME\/CFS Biobank (UKMEB) \u2014 now open to external researchers across the globe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We receive ongoing funding from the US National Institute of Health, the ME Association’s Ramsay Research Fund and ME Research UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is ME\/CFS?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis is a severe, multi-systemic illness characterised by: persistent fatigue not relieved by rest, cognitive impairment, post-exertional malaise, sleep disturbances, muscle pain and impaired immune function.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

  • Conduct transparent, multidisciplinary research that benefits individuals with ME\/CFS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
